I send this e-mail to our navigation community (both surface and sub-surface). We have
lost one of our own this week to horrific traffic accident.
For those of us who knew Will, know he was an honorable and well respected family man and
Chief Petty Officer. He was also an unsung hero. It's probably not known by many that he was a
survivor of the 1988 USS BONEFISH (SS-582) fire. In his effort to ensure all survivors escaped, he
was the last one to make his way to safety before being picked up by the FFG.
He was on active duty during:
- Cold War
- Desert Shield
- Desert Storm
- Desert Fox
- GWOT
- OEF
- OIF
May you all find a moment in your prayers for his wife Monica and his three children; Nick,
Jake and Emma.
